Lost cities are still out there waiting for discovery, folks! We tend to think we've already mapped out every square inch of the earth. While that day will likely come soon, it hasn't come yet.

Two Mayan cities were found last month in Campeche—well, one of them was rediscovered after its first finder sort of...well, lost it in 1970. Misplacing an entire city sounds silly, but after having visited Chichen Itza and seeing the surrounding countryside, you can get an idea of how the jungle literally swallows everything.
The Mayans figure into Atlantis lore and the ongoing search. Like most ancient peoples, they had their own Atlantis story, and many have suggested they may be survivors of the lost continent—or perhaps Atlantis was really the New World?
On that note, I'll reveal that the Mayans will figure into Atlantis On the Shores of Forever!
